Glenn Posted 19 January , 2003 Share Posted 19 January , 2003 I am researching a number of soldiers whom died after the CWGC cut off date, 31/8/1921 and have found a number whom have died of Endocarditis (according to their death certificates). Does anyone know of others whom have prematurely died of the same war related disease? Any information on this disease or other premature causes of death would be much appreciated. Regards, Glenn. Sue Light Posted 19 January , 2003 Share Posted 19 January , 2003 Glenn I can't put my hands [or brain] on the evidence at present, but I think that endocarditis was one of the complications of dysentery during the war, and there was a higher incidence of heart disease post war in the men who served in Gallipoli, and who had suffered from dysentery at the time. Glenn Posted 20 January , 2003 Author Share Posted 20 January , 2003 Thank you Sue, that seems logical, I need to broaden my research! Many thanks, Glenn.
Raster Scanning Posted 21 January , 2003 Share Posted 21 January , 2003 Glenn Endocarditis is an infection of a heart valve, caused by bacterial infection from the blood, taking residence in a valve and slowly eating it away. I am no doctor but I suspect one way that blood could be infected, would be as a result of internal bleeding caused by Dysentry. John.
