I read this a long time ago and I think it did cover some WW1 campaigns . Anyone looking for a good read ... I remember finding it fascinating and I think the title is wonderful !

I would certainly recommend it for an interesting read. With the warning that psychology/psychiatry are not exact sciences and that some of the wierdest people I`ve met have been psy.....! :rolleyes:

I read it years ago

Basically Officers are promoted untill they get to a rank in which they cannot cope - then they are promoted no more.

So many Officers are doing a job they can't do

Jane,

I thought that the promotion of someone capably carrying out his present job to a higher grade and then not being able to cope was know as the "Peter Principle"!

Jane,

Not always! I know of a few officers who continued to get promoted even when it was clear they couldn't perform!!
