For your reading and visual pleasure:

Taboika, John Victor (born 1956 - )

"Military Antiques and Collectables of the Great War: A Canadian Collection."

Ottawa,Canada: Service Publications

September, 2007

363 pages

Hardbound

ISBN: 1 - 894581 - 42 - 3

This just published Canadian book is a based on one Canadian investment banker's personal collection in Calgary, Alberta based primarily but not exclusively on the CEF and Canadian home front to a lesser extent. Some British items such as patriotic books and ephemera are also included. It is NOT a catalogue of the man's collection but certainly a good sampling. There are literally thousands of images and many are produced to a very high standard. There are no footnotes as the author deliberately decided against these to save space. There is a bibliography.

Service Publications an Ottawa military publisher's web site:

This book is expensive at least 100.00 Canadian dollars plus postage to Great Britain (it is a large heavy book!). However if you are in Great Britain or the United States or indeed anywhere else in the world and are seiously interested in the CEF you MUST have this book.

You are welcome. I do not know the number of copies produced. But judging by how quickly the book has sold here in the Canadian collecting community the book will go up in value and probably out of print in a few years (sooner rather than later).

So do NOT delay in buying. This is the type of book by the way that you will not see due to its price etc...in most bookstores.

Hi John,

When this book first was announced, I ordered a copy, and then in a fit of lunacy, told my wife that it would make a great Christmas gift for me :D When it arrived, she promptly grabbed it, wrapped it, paid for it, and now it sits under the tree. The book has been here in my home for a month and I haven't had the opportunity to dig into it :angry2:

Ah well, only a few more hours to wait!

Cheers,

Terry
