Casualty Lists

These PG prefix lists cover mainly Iraq and occasionally India. The first I’ve found is PG 938 from 1st May 1916. PG 1827 dates from 27 June 1916 so perhaps the PG lists started in early 1916. The last list I have is PG22532 dated 20 March 1920.

PG 2312 can be dated to mid July 1916

Thinking about those FmP odd bits of paper that are from casualty sheets torn in half, the probability is that there are about as many right hand bits of paper as left hand bits. Of course not the same whole sheet in that the 60% destruction of service records will reduce the possibility of matches.

FmP have indexed the left hand half sheets as well as the whole sheets. (Do we know if they have done a few, most, or all?)

They have not indexed the right hand half sheets because they have no names. But these right hand half sheets do contain the dates and the sheet number. Furthermore FmP have not indexed service numbers that might be legible where the name is illegible or only part legible. (We, who have the time, can probably put a name to a service number if we have a bit of context)

I'm wondering what more there is to gain from these un-indexed right hand half-pages and if we should be reporting them here?

I am going through my old thread Royal Engineers Sick and Wounded to date the partial lists. When I have done so I will probably change the name of the thread to Casualty Lists - Partial and ask the mods to move it to "Other". It might be the best place to put any right hand side sheets.

On page 31 I posted H 7391 showing RE names. On p 49 Dave posted another part of H 7391.

This is yet another part of H 7391 showing RFA names.

2300 Gnr Ford, A is named in the Times OCL 09/02/1916 under Mediterranean, 4 East Lancs Howitzer Bde, wounded.

EDIT: I posted this list on Royal Field Artillery P 8 in Western Front.

EDIT 2 This is the list that I posted on 11/12/2021 on p 45. I could not read the number, I have also shown it on the original post.

These were originally posted on page 6, 11th Dec 2008. The image links are broken and the lists have not been added to David's spreadsheet.
