Casualty Lists

In my partially successful quest to obtain either better quality scans or original scans of transcriptions from way back on pages 1-10 ish I've found a fair few other lists on the same FMP filmstrip. Hope they've not been uploaded since February. I've checked the spreadsheet and apart from a few with same numbers but different lists (or other pages from the same list) they should all be new lists.

This is super, thanks TEW.  There is some great stuff here - especially good to see the very early Progress Reports which helps us date the start of these to early July 1915.

Regarding the index, I intend publishing an updated version after dink999 has finished his batch of HD lists, which I think may be imminent given how many he has posted already.  And just to mention that of the lists you just posted there were two which, I believe, did appear on the index: 13507 which appeared as ref 4001 and 14198 which had first appeared as a transcript (ref 15) and which Bardess had subsequently found and posted the image (ref 238), though your version is a much clearer image.

David.

David,

I'll have a double check tomorrow on the ones I uploaded today. Normally I'd delete any duplicates but if it's a better quality perhaps not.

I have been tracking down better copies so I may have got muddled somewhere with new Vs replacement lists although I wasn't intending to upload the better versions.

Just checked and I uploaded 13507 previously! I have page 2 of 14198 which is not the same as #15 or #238. Think I uploaded page 1 by mistake.

Hopefully there's a time lag between members uploading lists and their entry into Version 2 of the spreadsheet?

Of course!  Happy to time publication to suit forum members' needs.

David,

Just wanted to make sure that altering page 65 by deleting one list and replacing another won't cause havoc!

David,

This is the last batch of full page HD lists that I have. They include an early list HD 189 which looks to be from May/June 1915 after I found information from 3458 Payne's service record (enteritis 19 May 1915) I'll post 8 partial lists that I haveon the topic that brian has created.

Thank you for all these latest posts.  Great stuff.   There is a new version of the index ready for posting.  Do you think it would be better if I were to edit the OP in the other thread with the new file (so that it is easy to find) or add to the thread in the normal way?

David.

Think I would edit the first post of the Index topic and add V2 and leave V1 in place, perhaps until V3 is needed!

I gleaned some more today but with a leaving towards Mediterranean and/or HD lists, I was going to delay posting them until seeing V2, good timing.

Hi Andrew
I would like to take advantage of your generous offer.
I am interested in two soldiers:

Andrew Symington 24168 R.Ir.Fu

James Symington 14606 R Sc.Fu
I believe Andrew was on the Casualty list in Mar 1917.
James may have been blinded

Many thanks

Thanks TEW.  That's a good suggestion - I'll get on and do that in the morning.

Apologies for starting the day with a complicated one. This one may seem to match spreadsheet #4821 & #4822 which are lists with two numbers - 25459 & C/491. However, this one is different. I've compared names and there's no crossover to #4821 & #4822. It is also marked as page 3 but is another page 3!

It is dated ~ 3 weeks after #4821 & #4822 but refers back to events of ~3 weeks before #4821 & #4822 so it maybe some sort of progress list but does not say so.

It further complicates things by have a third number sequence which doesn't seem to correlate to anything known as yet. It's page 3 which starts with a continuation of list 115/5861 and then starts with 115/5862 which is also IDd as (WO 25459 - C/491). It's possible the RA office created the 115/**** sequence from the WO sequence.
