MartH Posted 15 January , 2008 Share Posted 15 January , 2008 Gaz I always liked: White Heat: The New Warfare 1914-18 by John Terraine, ISBN 0283988282 Publisher: Sidgwick & Jackson Regards Mart
truthergw Posted 15 January , 2008 Share Posted 15 January , 2008 This is a vast area Gaz. Will you cover all of it or specialise? There is gas, air, tanks, artillery, infantry weapons, signalling and medicine just as a start off the top of my head. The RE did a multi volume history and any one of those volumes would give a lot of material.
Chris_Baker Posted 15 January , 2008 Share Posted 15 January , 2008 I'd go with Mart's suggestion.
Simon Jones Posted 15 January , 2008 Share Posted 15 January , 2008 For more technical detail The War of Invention by Guy Hartcup is useful but may be hard to find now. S
Paul Hederer Posted 15 January , 2008 Share Posted 15 January , 2008 "Technology in War," by Kenneth Macksey is a nice little book. I used it for a report about twenty years ago on science and the war--so I speak from experience! Paul
Garron Posted 15 January , 2008 Author Share Posted 15 January , 2008 After I posted I did realise that it was a giant leap in technology compared pre and post war, need a general overview really. I have ordered the John Terraine book from amazon, its one of the market place jobs, £5.95. Condition does really matter, its only for reading, not a presentation copy.
