Guest gilesd Posted 21 January , 2003 Share Posted 21 January , 2003 My grandfather was in the Somerset Light Infantry and his war record was as follows: (1) Battle of Broodseinde, 4/10/17. (2) Battle of Hazebrouk, 12-15/4/18. (3) Battle of the Scarpe 1918, 26-30/8/18. (Information as per the SLI Museum.) He received a gunshot wound to the left arm and leg during the Battle of the Scarpe on 30/8/18 whilst taking part in an attack on Eterpigny, and was one of 195 soldiers of the battalion killed or wounded. He was admitted to 10 Field Ambulance on the day he was wounded and to 54 General Hospital the next day. He was evacuated to England on 4/9/18. Can any one add more details of the battles or the Regiment. Thanks David Giles
