tamos123 Posted 31 January , 2004 Share Posted 31 January , 2004 Hi All I have a little mystery and would appreciate your help I recently bought 3 pewter pint tankards which are ingraved BGC which I take to stand for Brig Gen Commanding?? and then have the names 1914-16 Brig Gen Allen 1921-23 W Stirling 1934-36 E D Cochrane I have tried the usual online searches any idea how I can cross reference the officers names? Remembering Great Grandads Thomas Samuel Faultless 91st Coy MGC killed Somme 17th May 1916 Alfred Henry Bailey 2nd Royal Berks killed Somme 18th Aug 1916
rflory Posted 31 January , 2004 Share Posted 31 January , 2004 W. Stirling is most likely Colonel Commandant William Stirling, CMG, DSO, Colonel Commandant of the School of Artillery at Larkhill from 1922 to 1926. I can not find an "E D Cochrane" in the 1935 Army List and Brig. Gen. Allen is hard to determine without his initials. Regards. Dick Flory
