trenchtrotter Posted 8 February , 2008 Share Posted 8 February , 2008 Have just finished the above book which fellow member Al Parsons kindly sent me from Canada. I have to say possibly one of the best reads on the Great War I have experienced. I highly recommend it to all. Very sad in places, funney at other times. Simply superb. paul guthrie Posted 19 February , 2008 Share Posted 19 February , 2008 As good a memoir by an OR soldier as was written, try Thirteen years Later for his visit to the battlefields.
ejcmartin Posted 19 February , 2008 Share Posted 19 February , 2008 Will Bird's decendent Stephen Murray (living in the US I might add) was included in the CBC's "The Great War" documentary last year. There were a number of scenes that were, I assume having not read the book, pulled from "Ghost Have Warm Hands". Ed

Al Parsons Posted 29 February , 2008 Share Posted 29 February , 2008 What's it about?? Geraint The book? It's about Will Bird's experiences in the trenches throughout The Great War. By the way, TT is returning my little favour in spades by photographing my Great-Uncle's resting place in Vis-en-Artois military cemetary next month. He is also leaving a memorial on the grave site for me. I truly appreciate this - more than words can tell.
