bmac Posted 22 March , 2008 Share Posted 22 March , 2008 Wonder if anyone knows about this book. Turns out the author was the wife of a Lt Penn, Kensingtons, who lost his arm at Gommecourt. This is the middle of a semi-autobiographical trilogy none of which are currently in print. Lt Penn's names is changed to Burton for the purposes of the book. I have recently been contacted by his grand son and would like to know more before investing in yet more books!

This book deals rather lightly with WW1. In the next book 'The Young Mrs Burton' the author deals with living with a wounded and bitter husband. Margaret Penn was my fathers cousin. I found your entry on Google Sue
bmac Posted 30 January , 2009 Author Share Posted 30 January , 2009 Sue, I assume you are in contact with Ralph Howard Williams who is William and Margaret Penn's grandson and who supplied me with a photograph of William with his first wife Jane and baby which is in my book about the London Division at Gommecourt.
