Tom Morgan Posted 29 January , 2003 Share Posted 29 January , 2003 I'd like to look in a local newspaper for any details of a soldier's death. The soldier came from Rotherhithe. I wonder if anyone with local knowledge can tell me the names of the local papers for that area during the war years. I'd also be grateful for the names of any current local papers serving the area. Can anyone help?
Simon_Fielding Posted 29 January , 2003 Share Posted 29 January , 2003 Tom: Try the British Library Newspaper Collection (Colindale) online catalogue: http://prodigi.bl.uk/nlcat/ You can search by location and get a fairly comprehensive list which is very clear on dates of publication. The folks at Colindale do a good job and in my experience offer a very friendly and helpful service. Their reproduction services are excellent and they answer emails quickly! Terry_Reeves Posted 29 January , 2003 Share Posted 29 January , 2003 If anybody requires holdings and locations of local newspapers, please feel free to contact me. I have a book which covers manyof them from 1750-1920 in England, Wales, Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. Terry Reeves
